EACH BILLING STATEMENT CONTAINS A CONSPICUOUS NOTICE THAT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IS AVAILABLE TO INDIVIDUALS THAT QUALIFY. ONCE A PATIENT IS DETERMINED TO QUALIFY FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, IT IS NOTED IN THE PATIENT'S FINANCIAL RECORD AND ANY COLLECTION EFFORTS CEASE. ANY PREVIOUS AMOUNTS BILLED ARE WRITTEN-OFF (or refunded if any payment was received) AS PROVIDED IN THE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE POLICY. THE ORGANIZATION REVIEWS THE FINANCIAL ACTIVITY ON OTHER ACCOUNTS TO DETERMINE IF THE ACCOUNTS SHOULD BE TURNED OVER TO OUTSIDE COLLECTIONS. IF A PATIENT ACCOUNT TURNED OVER TO COLLECTIONS IS LATER DETERMINED TO QUALIFY AS FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, THE ACCOUNT IS BROUGHT BACK FROM COLLECTIONS AND THE ACCOUNT WRITTEN OFF.
