The following compensation policy has been established for the senior management staff. Objective To enable the Westport Weston Family YMCA to attract, motivate and retain the executive talent needed to carry out its mission while staying within intermediate sanctions regulations. Mission The Westport Weston Family YMCA recognizes that in order to carry out its mission, contributed support and earned income should be utilized to provide the highest quality services possible while making them affordable to all. The Westport Weston Family YMCA recognizes that excessive compensation will diminish the YMCA's ability to provide the funds necessary to carry out its mission. Disqualified Persons Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Development Officer Excessive Benefit Transactions (EBT) 1. EBT's result when the economic benefit to the disqualified person exceeds "the fair market value of the goods and services provided. 2. EBT includes the following types of compensation and benefits components: Base salary Incentive compensation/bonuses Benefits and perquisites (including retirement benefits) Severance payments Deferred compensation Insurance premiums Approval Body 1. Compensation shall be reviewed and approved by an authorized Board committee - Executive Committee. 2. Committee members must be independent and non-employees 3. Committee members must have no conflicts of interest; business relationship, family member, no material interest in the transaction. Comparability Data Comparability data should be comprised of the following * Compensation paid by similarly situated organizations, * Functionally comparable positions * Independent compensation surveys compiled by independent firms * Size and complexity of organization * Geographic area * Qualifications and/or performance of the incumbent * All elements of compensation (see EBT) Documentation The compensation decisions of the Executive Committee should be adequately documented including the following: * Terms of transactions * Compensation tied to performance, * Date of approval * Committee members present, * Committee members voting or abstaining * Description of comparability data and how it was obtained * Actions taken by members with a conflict of interest Marketplace Comparison The following sources will be utilized for comparability data: 1. YUSA * Compensation levels for YMCA's in Connecticut with budget sizes greater than $6,000,000 * YMCA's in the States of New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey with budget sizes between $6,000,000 and $10,000,000. 2. Local Positions * Executive Director of Westport Library Association Inc. * Executive Director of Westport Country Playhouse Inc. Compensation 1. Compensation adjustments will reward outstanding performers and provide appropriate signals to staff members needing improvement. 2. Compensation will be linked to an annual performance management process, with individual and organizational goals. 3. Compensation adjustments will be based on achievement of those goals 4. Salaries appropriate to professional areas/positions will be individually compared to the regional market place. 5. The Westport Weston Family YMCA will utilize the market place in establishing salary ranges. |
