Part I, Line 2: CI EMPLOYEES USE A VARIETY OF TECHNIQUES TO MONITOR GRANTS FUNDS. CI EVALUATES THE FINANCIAL AND PROGRAMMATIC CAPACITY OF ALL PROSPECTIVE GRANTEES THROUGH A RISK-BASED APPROACH THAT INCLUDES PRE-AWARD QUESTIONNAIRES, DEVELOPING AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE PROSPECTIVE GRANTEES, AND PRE-AWARD SITE VISITS. PROPOSALS AND BUDGETS ARE REVIEWED AND ANALYZED BY CI STAFF. MONITORING PROCEDURES ARE BASED UPON THE RISK ASSESSMENT OF THE PROSPECTIVE GRANTEE. UPON AWARD, GRANTEES ARE MONITORED THROUGH REVIEW OF TECHNICAL AND FINANCIAL REPORTS SUBMITTED BY GRANTEES, AUDITS, AND THROUGH SITE VISITS TO OBSERVE TECHNICAL PROGRESS AND FINANCIAL COMPLIANCE.
