HIGHLIGHTS OF PROGRAM OUTCOMES IN THESE AREAS ARE: EDUCATION - 97% OF PRE-K CHILDREN ENROLLED IN THE READ TO SUCCEED EARLY LITERACY PROGRAM ASSESSED KINDERGARTEN READY. FINANCIAL STABILITY- 14,800 FAMILIES BENEFITTED FROM FREE TAX PREPARATION AND RECEIVED MORE THAN $19.4 MILLION IN TAX REFUNDS AND EITC CREDITS. THIS SERVICE ENSURES FILERS CLAIM ALL THEIR ELIGIBLE CREDITS. IN 2017, VITA SITES HELPED 14,800 FAMILIES COLLECT ALMOST $19.4 MILLION IN TOTAL FEDERAL REFUNDS AND SAVE MORE THAN $4.15 MILLION IN FILING FEES. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE MAYOR'S OFFICE, UWMN OPERATES THE CITY'S FINANCIAL EMPOWERMENT CENTERS (FECS), AN INITIATIVE AIMED AT REDUCING DEBT, INCREASING SAVINGS AND PROVIDING FINANCIAL LITERACY TO THE COMMUNITY.
