IN THIS REGION, OBI PROVIDED AID IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS: GIK MEDICINES, SAFE WATER, DISASTER RELIEF, MEDICAL CARE, HUNGER RELIEF, LIVELIHOOD AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN. IN HAITI, OPERATION BLESSING OPERATES A PRIMARY SCHOOL IN ONE OF THE COUNTRYS POOREST COMMUNITIES THAT PROVIDES CHILDREN ACCESS TO SCHOOL WHO OTHERWISE MIGHT NOT HAVE THE ABILITY OR PROCLIVITY TO ATTEND. IN EL SALVADOR, OBI CONTINUES TO PROVIDE FREE MEDICAL SERVICES THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY WITH A MOBILE MEDICAL TEAM. IN EAST ASIA AND THE PACIFIC, OPERATION BLESSING HAS OFFICES LOCATED IN CAMBODIA, CHINA, INDONESIA, PHILIPPINES, JAPAN, AND THAILAND. IN THIS REGION, BENEFICIARIES RECEIVED AID IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS: SAFE WATER, DISASTER RELIEF, VULNERABLE CHILDREN, LIVELIHOOD, HUNGER RELIEF AND MEDICAL CARE. IN JAPAN, OBI TEAMS MANAGED RELIEF AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS THAT INCLUDED: POST DISASTER CLEANUP OF THE KUMAMOTO EARTHQUAKE, CHILDRENS ACTIVITIES AND LEARNING TRIPS AND POST-TRAUMATIC SUPPORT GROUP WORKSHOPS FOR INDIVIDUALS AFFECTED BY NATURAL DISASTER. IN THE MIDDLE EAST, OPERATION BLESSING HAS TWO OFFICES IN ISRAEL AND SPECIAL PROJECTS IN OTHER CONFLICT-IMPACTED COUNTRIES LIKE PAKISTAN, IRAQ AND JORDAN. IN THIS REGION, OBI SERVED BENEFICIARIES IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS: HUNGER RELIEF, MEDICAL CARE, VULNERABLE CHILDREN, ANTI-TRAFFICKING, SAFE WATER, AND LIVELIHOOD. IN THE WEST BANK, AS WELL AS PAKISTAN, OPERATION BLESSING ASSISTS INDIVIDUALS IN STARTING SMALL-BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES AS A WAY TO EARN INCOME. IN PAKISTAN SPECIFICALLY, OBI TRAINS TEENS AND YOUNG WOMEN IN VOCATIONAL SKILLS SUCH AS COSMETOLOGY AND SEWING, AS WELL AS PROVIDES THEM WITH LITERACY CLASSES. THIS PROGRAM FOCUSES ON OUT-OF-SCHOOL TEENS, WOMEN AND GIRLS WHO WORK AS DOMESTIC SERVANTS AND HELPS PROVIDE THEM ALTERNATIVE SKILLS. OPERATION BLESSING'S HOLOCAUST-SURVIVOR SUPPORT PROGRAM CONTINUES TO ASSIST ELDERLY HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS BY PROVIDING FOOD, MEDICATION, AND A COMPASSIONATE VOLUNTEER BASE. FURTHERMORE, WORKING THROUGH THE LOCAL CHURCHES IN FY18, OPERATION BLESSING CONTINUED TO CREATE SMALL BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES FOR INTERNALLY DISPLACED IRAQIS TO EARN INCOME TO PROVIDE FOR THEIR FAMILIES WHERE INCOME GENERATING OPPORTUNITIES ARE SCARCE. IN NORTH AMERICA, OPERATION BLESSING HAS A REGIONAL OFFICE LOCATED IN MEXICO. IN THIS REGION, BENEFICIARIES RECEIVED AID IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS: DISASTER RELIEF, LIVELIHOOD, HOME CONSTRUCTION, FOOD SECURITY, CHILDREN AND SAFE WATER. OBI-MEXICO DISTRIBUTED WHEELCHAIRS TO INDIVIDUALS NEEDING MOBILE ASSISTANCE, AND ACTED AS FIRST-RESPONDERS TO THE RELIEF EFFORTS OF THE FY18 EARTHQUAKES THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY. IN THE REGION OF RUSSIA AND THE NEWLY INDEPENDENT STATES, OPERATION BLESSING HAS THREE OFFICES IN UKRAINE. OBI CONTINUES TO SUPPORT A HEALTHCARE FACILITY IN THE CITY OF KIEV, WHICH PROVIDES A RANGE OF PRIMARY HEALTH SERVICES FOR FREE TO THOSE IN NEED. IN SOUTH AMERICA, OPERATION BLESSING HAS AN OFFICE LOCATED IN PERU. IN THIS REGION, OBI ASSISTED RESIDENTS IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS: ANTI-TRAFFICKING, SAFE WATER, VULNERABLE CHILDREN, LIVELIHOOD, MEDICAL CARE AND HUNGER RELIEF. ONGOING WATER PROJECTS PROVIDED COMMUNITIES WITH POTABLE WATER, WHILE CHILDREN AT RISK OF POVERTY AND MALNUTRITION BENEFITED FROM NUTRITIONAL FEEDING PROGRAMS, MEDICAL MISSIONS, SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS, AND SEXUAL ABUSE PREVENTION TRAINING. IN PERU, HEALTH PROGRAMS HAVE A SPECIAL FOCUS ON MATERNAL/CHILD HEALTH WITH PROGRAMS FOR NEW TEEN MOTHERS AND EDUCATION SEMINARS AND SCREENING FOR CERVICAL CANCER. IN SOUTH ASIA, OPERATION BLESSING HAS AN OFFICE LOCATED IN INDIA AND A PARTNER MINISTRY IN NEPAL. IN THIS REGION, BENEFICIARIES RECEIVED AID IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS: ANTI-TRAFFICKING, SAFE WATER, LIVELIHOOD, AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING, MEDICAL CARE AND HUNGER RELIEF. IN INDIA, WATER WELLS WERE DRILLED, WHICH PROVIDED FAMILIES AND COMMUNITIES WITH ACCESS TO POTABLE WATER, WHILE MEDICAL MISSIONS HELD ACROSS THE COUNTRY PROVIDED FREE HEALTH CARE. DUE TO FREQUENT NATURAL DISASTERS THAT OCCUR IN THE REGION, OBIS WORK FOCUSES PRIMARILY ON RELIEF TO FAMILIES THAT HAVE BEEN AFFECTED BY SUCH TRAGEDIES. IN SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA, OPERATION BLESSING HAS OFFICES LOCATED IN NIGERIA, GHANA, LIBERIA, AND KENYA AND PARTNERSHIPS IN MANY OTHER COUNTRIES. IN THIS REGION, OBI HELPED PEOPLE IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS: VULNERABLE CHILDREN, ANTI-TRAFFICKING, SAFE WATER, HUNGER RELIEF, DISASTER RELIEF, LIVELIHOOD AND MEDICAL CARE. IN KENYA, COMMUNITY HEALTH VOLUNTEERS CONTINUE TO SERVE THEIR FRIENDS, FAMILY AND NEIGHBORS WITH HIGH-DEMAND PRIMARY MEDICAL SUPPORT, SPECIALIZING IN USING CHLORINE TO TREAT WATER AND PROVIDE PRENATAL EDUCATION.
