Public Dissemination and Technical Assistance of Awards Public Dissemination and Technical Assistance of Awards PART IX-A, LINE 1 The Foundation publicized the recipients of the Sloan Research Fellowships. Nominations for the fellowships from academia are reviewed and candidates are selected by independent selection committees of distinguished scholars in each eligible field. In addition, the Foundation publicized the winners of Sloan Awards for excellence in teaching mathematics and science, an annual awards program that honors exceptional teaching in New York Citys public high schools. Each year since 1973, the Sloan Public Service Awards have recognized six outstanding civil servants out of the thousands of people who work for New York City government. The Fund for the City of New York manages the nomination and selection process and refers to the awards as the Nobel Prizes of Government, the highest award that can be bestowed upon a New York City public servant. These winners are published in the New York Times. The Foundation's Book program aims to reach a wide, lay audience, and has supported over 100 authors since 1996 in the research and writing of a wide range of books aimed at public understanding of science, technology and economics. Book grants can be made to individuals or to affiliated nonprofit organizations and are reviewed by an advisory committee.

During 2019, 9 staff members served on boards and committees of charitable organizations, and public commissions and task forces.
Educational Conferences and Seminars Educational Conferences and Seminars PART IX-A, LINE 3 During 2019, the Foundation held educational conferences and seminars to examine the newest developments and educate the practitioners on the state of Science, Technology, Engineering/Economics and Mathematics, (STEM) fields.
