Explanation |
Part I, Line 2 - Procedures for Monitoring the Use of Grant Funds |
Prior to making a foreign grant to an organization, The Trust ensures that the potential grantee is recognized as a charity by the foreign country or is a 501(c)(3) organization. Foreign grantees are required to submit a report detailing the use of the funds. The report is reviewed to ensure that the funds were used for the intended charitable purpose. Any funds not used for the purpose described are required to revert to The Trust. Prior to making a foreign grant to an individual selected by an advisory committee (based on the specific fund's purpose), The Trust cross-references the individuals with the US Treasury Department's SDN list, and ensures that the individual has a J1 visa & tax ID number. In 2020, The Trust did not make any grants to foreign individuals. |
