PART I, LINE 2: ALL GRANTS ARE APPROVED BY FJC'S GRANT COMMITTEE COMPRISED OF FJC'S INDEPENDENT BOARD. APPLICATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO EXTENSIVE VETTING WHICH INCLUDES: (1) DETERMINING THE FORMAL LEGAL STATUS OF THE ORGANIZATION; (2) REVIEWING A DESCRIPTION OF THE ORGANIZATION'S HISTORY AND PROJECTS/PROGRAMS; (3) CONFIRMING THAT NO PRIVATE OR PERSONAL BENEFITS WILL BE PAID FROM THE GRANT BEING REQUESTED. ADDITIONALLY, RESEARCH IS DONE BY FJC STAFF ON THE ORGANIZATION IN BOTH THE OFAC/SPECIALTY DESIGNATED NATIONALS LIST AND CONFIRMING TO THE EXTENT IT IS KNOWN, NO EXECUTIVE STAFF AND BOARD MEMBERS ARE ON FBI'S MOST WANTED LIST. UPON APPROVAL, GRANTEES ENTER INTO WRITTEN AGREEMENTS WITH FJC, OBLIGATING THEM TO REPORT ON THEIR ORGANIZATIONS OPERATIONS AND EXPENDITURES ENABLING FJC TO PROVIDE EXPENDITURE RESPONSIBILITY.
